You gotta see this.

A revival of the thread from the old boards where we post kickass cartoon shorts on the Internets.

Flash version - Quicktime version

The Nostalgia Critic is a series of comical movie (and sometimes TV show) reviews with most of the movies being from the 80s or 90s and most of them quite negative. I’ve been wasting time watching old episodes off and on for the last couple weeks. Probably the best one so far in terms of both comedy and horrible source material is the review for North, an offensive (both in the stereotype way and the intelligence insulting way) “family comedy” from 1994.

Nostalgia Critic is awesome. I also highly recommend his counterpart, the Nostalgia Chick:

My favorite review of hers is Pocahontas.

(although the Mulan, Labyrinth and Xanadu reviews are almost as awesome).

The only thing about the Nostalgia Chick is that she’s a little more hit or miss than Nostalgia critic. But when she hits it she’s hilarious.

Ah, yes. I’ve been following NC since his YouTube days in 2007. The copyright-happy bastards of the site had some issues with the numerous accounts he kept trying to create, and he finally got fed up with it and created his own site. He makes great stuff.

Another movie reviewer I’d recommend (who actually predates the Critic by a few months) is The Cinema Snob. He’s a Roger Ebert parody who reviews Z-grade exploitation films.

This is kinda old, but it’s new toomie and I don’t recall any mention of it here.

Dirty Bomb Diaries

A few months ago, a friend of mine told me about an online show called “The Dirty Bomb Diaries.” While I was skeptical at first, as I had not watched much online media, I was pleasantly surprised by the 16-episode drama. The show follows the story of an unprepared woman as she deals with the fallout of a dirty bomb attack in her city. From finding food and water, to dealing with possible nuclear poisoning the show was riveting from start to finish. More…

The “episodes” are 2 1/2 minute videos.

Also, if you are a fan of historical drama (or Sean Bean), I discovered recently that there is a lot of Sharpe’s Rifles posted on YouTube.

Made it to episode 8… didn’t find it too interesting.

Hee! As it turned out, I didn’t make it past episode two myself. =0D

Lawyer-Unsafe Short Film of the Year

Logorama is an Oscar-nominated 16-minute film with R-rated language and situations and as many as 2,500 possible intellectual property violations.

That was ridiculous…

Tales of Mere Existence is a sort of watch-as -it’s-drawn ‘toon… kind of hard to describe. Note there’s only one episode on that list currently, but you can click the years (2006, 2007, etc) to go back and watch episodes in previous “seasons.”

Heh, I liked it. Nice 3D-but-not-too-3D style.

The Best Game Ever.

If you haven’t heard of Improv Everywhere, they are a group of people that pull amazing stunts in public. They’re always entertaining and never mean to anyone. This is one of their best.

(It seems that posting links of any kind triggers this sight’s spam filter. So here:

Improv Everywhere does good stuff. I was going to imitate their stunt bringing a desktop computer to a Starbucks for class exercise in breaking social norms a while ago but ultimately decided to go with something easier.

Yes, perusing some of their older stuff, I noticed a few things that have been posted at AnRe before.

Between The Folds

This is a truly fantastical look at orgiastic origami. The 10 minute clip has audio sync problems, but if you have NetFlix, it’s an instant view. I can’t comprehend talent like this.
