The Buzz

I’m curious whether he’ll be learning actual karate, or a Chinese analogue (kung fu?). Not that I or 98% of America would be able to tell the difference. But calling it “The Kung Fu Kid” would not have been a tragedy.

Is it racist that I have a hard time believing that an inner-city black kid would have any problem wiping the floor with a bunch of Asian kids? (I’m guessing the answer is “probably”)

espyes:
Well, Star Trek and this Karate Kid arent exactly sequels. Theyre “re-imaginings”. Funny they call them that when they typically use such little imagination.

The new Star Trek movie was actually pretty good. It can even be considered, loosely, a “prequel” to the original TV series.

I would agree with that. I enjoyed the Star Trek movie, even though I had never really watched any of the other Trek shows or movies before.

I liked the Star Trek movie a lot. I think it was the best one since Wrath of Kahn. Instead of just continuing the franchise into the future, they neatly reset the time line so that they can start the whole story all over with the new cast and take it wherever they want. Hopefully it won’t be so corny this time. I’m looking forward to seeing more of Simon Pegg as Scotty, that was a stroke of casting genius.

I don’t think they went far enough with Simon Pegg as Scotty though. Perhaps in future films.

It’s true, he wasn’t a major character in this one but he stole every scene he was in.

Hanna Montana will end in March.

Miley Cyrus, star of the hit show “Hannah Montana,” started filming the final season this week. Word is there will be a two-part cliffhanger airing on March 7 and March 14.

Gary Marsh, Disney’s chief creative executive said “This fourth season is an expression of Miley Cyrus’ personal commitment to ensuring that ‘Hannah’ will live forever in the hearts and minds of kids everywhere.”

And by “forever,” we mean till we find another musical kid to milk for the next few years. Lather, rinse, repeat.

…and there was much rejoicing.

Daikun:

And by “forever,” we mean till we find another musical kid to milk for the next few years. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Well, scientists did warn us that Miley Cyrus would be depleted by 2013.

New posters for The Last Airbender

Now I know I should be more cautious about trusting M Night again after Lady in the Water and The Warning or whatever that killer tree movie was (I didn’t even bother seeing it), especially considering he’s toying with one of my favorite cartoon franchises of all time here, but dammit, I can’t help it… I’m excited and really wanna see this.

Also, I don’t care what anyone says; The Village wasn’t bad at all, okay? So maybe it’s a two-movie slump.
