Issue w/ ze board

I’ve started using Google Chrome, and I like it a lot, but there’s just one problem: It keeps logging me out of Anre. Not just when I navigate away, but when I go from page to page. It doesn’t do this with facebook or gmail or other message boards, only with Anre. Any way you could figure out what’s up, Albright?

Are you maybe using that anonymous mode that doesn’t remember cookies or something? I really have no idea.

Nope, not in incognito mode. And it only seems to happen here. I don’t suppose you can add a check mark to the log in that says “keep me logged in”?

Sure, I can add a checkbox, but it won’t do much good without code behind it. And trying to use code to solve a problem when you don’t know what the problem is is shooting in the dark.

I know there is an alternative login module for Drupal, though I can’t remember the name; it’s supposed to be good at keeping people logged in longer and stuff. This afternoon, I’ll try installing it and we’ll see if it does any good.

Couldn’t you just use the code that’s in every other forum that exists, that has this check box? The reason I brought up the check box is because it’s something that differentiates this forum from every single other log-in page on the web, all the others of which work on Google chrome.

Ok, don’t know what you did, but it’s staying logged in now. Woo.

I’m on Chrome and having the same problem, weird.

Seems permalinks only work on the first page of the thread. I was trying to link a comment here to someone, but it was on the second page.

Guess it doesn’t matter since the board is dead anyway. :p

Hmm, yeah. That’s broken.

Hm.

Google Chrome now seems to stay logged in on Anre. Good job.

It appears that something about this markItUp editor on the textareas is causing IE 7 (and IE 6?) to crash upon trying to display it. Have any of you PC-using folks tried visiting the forums using one of these browsers successfully? This bug would have been around for at least a year, so I’m kind of surprised I haven’t heard about it before.

It never occurred to me to try. Why would I want to do that? I can see why you’d want to fix it though.

Edit: I just logged in with IE8 (all I have) several times. It works just fine on the home page until I try to open a thread. Then it locks up.

Wow, IE 8 too? So nobody on here regularly uses IE? Well, I guess that’s a good thing… I guess I’ll leave it enabled for now, but I’ve disabled it at YPI.

You might want to put up a note to noobs on the main page that they need to get Firefox to be cool enough for this board, or some such bs. OTOH, that may be why we’re not plagued by one-post nit wits.

Okay, my project for the day was rewriting the markItUp! module for Drupal (the content management system AnRe and most of my other sites are using) from the ground up. The end result has less code and more awesome, and I’m currently typing this using IE 7, so I seemed to have fixed that problem, whatever it was - but if others out there with access to IE could give it another try, please let me know the result.

A productive weekend, and it’s not even half over yet! Yay!

I’m typing this with IE8. It seems to work. Good job, I suppose.

Been getting this a lot. Half the time it looses my post to boot. After losing some of the greatest posts anyone anywhere on the internet has ever seen, I’ve learned to copy my posts to the clipboard before preview or posting these days.

Edit: e.g. It lost this post.

Uh. Hmm. Has anyone else been seeing that?

I ran a database update, so hopefully the database should be exactly how the code wants it… If it still seems to be happening, I’ll try a whole reinstall.

Hold off on that. It may be something with my computer. It’s getting pretty senile as I have been running the same install of XP for five years. I’ve been having similar and varied troubles elsewhere and no one else is complaining anywhere. This is the only place I’ve mentioned it (and seems to be where it happens most often). So wait and see if anyone else is having trouble.

I see the same thing whenever I post but it doesn’t seem to affect anything.

No, that sort of error would definitely be on the server end.

I’m going to go ahead and disable Mollom for now. Tomorrow, bug me and remind me to try a full reinstall.

…and this is because…?

I’d show you what I tried to post, but it won’t let me.

The forum uses CAPTCHA now. Fill in the blanks and you should be okay.

I know that. Wern’t no Captcha in evidence. I checked. Twice.
